Improv take-over!
2007-11-08Recently, I’ve been reading about improvisational theater, which has been nifty and a lot of fun. This has resulted in a lot of improv games popping up around the house, particularly between Gabrielle and myself. Wednesday nights are the “worst”, because we have an audience.
So, last night, Gabrielle found a small dead beaver in the water jug, which became an occasion for hilarity, especially when Justice wanted to play along by pretending to put stuff in the water jug. I ended up putting a basket on my head (because Margary was doing it) and then claimed to be in the Chinese army. But the best part was when Gabrielle needed to take one of the leaves out of the table.
Gabrielle asks Theresa and Raquel to unlatch their side of the table. Theresa stands up and tips the entire table over. Yes, my large dining room table. Tipped over on its side. I still have my Chinese army hat on, so I say, “Good idea! We need to take cover!” So I duck behind the table with Theresa and Raquel. Gabrielle then ducks into the breakfast room and starts shooting at us. Raquel is shooting back, but Theresa is suddenly all concerned. “Here’s the problem! This table was made in China.” “That makes it an ally,” I reply, before getting shot by Gabrielle’s flame thrower.
It’s a good thing that the older children weren’t around to see this. Might have given them crazy ideas.
