It’s come to my attention recently that I’ve been neglecting this blog. I probably should do something about that. It’s not like I’ve stopped writing or anything. So, I’ll try to remember that I actually like writing here and go forward from there.

Trying out this whole Twitter integration thing again

I’ve discovered that I tend to use Twitter to jot down little ideas that once would have made it into a blog post. It does seem to me then that my longsuffering readers are possibly missing out on these nuggets of wisdom.

Or, alternately, my ability to summon the Peoria Fire Department.

I also discovered that my Twitter plugin now allows for a weekly update. So, we’ll try that and see if anything interesting happens. Worse case scenario: you skip over one blog post a week.

I’m not dead

I took vacation last week. I intended to write! I didn’t. But that’s okay. I enjoyed my vacation, particularly being able to celebrate my anniversary with Crystal yesterday. So, hopefully, I’ll be able to write more in the future.

This includes emails, by the way. I owe at least one person an email. I haven’t forgotten! Really!

News update

For those of you who came in late, an update:

Crystal and I are in Erie. On Thursday, Crystal’s mother suffered a serious heart attack. Yesterday, she was officially declared brain dead.

I’ve been keeping in touch with people mostly via Twitter, because it’s an easy “fire-and-forget” message system that lots of people can read. That way, I only have to say it once. Plus, my sister Gabrielle has been graciously watching the Twitter feed and then passing on emails to other folks as necessary. (Thanks, Gabrielle!)

The funeral is on Friday, and we will be returning on Saturday.

So, thus the news.

Server maintenance

Sometime on Tuesday, Billy is moving the Blog Peoria Network to a new server. I don’t know exactly when this will happen, but service will be sporadic on Tuesday. But, now you know what’s going on. God willing, we’ll be back on Wednesday. Maybe even sooner!

Yes, I’ve changed the blog template again. People complained that the previous template wasn’t “dark and quiet” enough. So I’m experimenting.

This seems to be a common pattern. Maybe next time I should entitle my announcement “Warning: Blog Avalanche Ahead”.

Sorry. I’m feeling pretty swamped now with stuff, so I haven’t really sat down to blog anything in particular. But I haven’t forgotten about it. Honest!

Also, if you’re reading this and I owe you an email or something, I probably haven’t forgotten, but I can’t guarantee it. A politely-worded nag would be okay.

Our esteemed host Billy Dennis just moved the site to a new server. At some point in here, I actually want to create a new template to incorporate some sidebar material, especially because of Billy’s efforts to make this a blog network. Besides the fact that this is his site and he gets to do what he wants, I really respect this effort and want to support it as best I can. So, eventually I’ll have a custom template for this blog that will be closer to my “look” while incorporating the Blog Peoria Network items that he’d like to be present.

Plus maybe I’ll put my Twitter updates on the sidebar too. If you all don’t behave, that is….
